Danee Robinson – Debussy’s 1883 “Mandoline”, L 29 (The poem of Paul Verlaine)

Danee Robinson is gifted with a pure, soprano angelic voice. She is an evolving presence in the world of classical music, and is getting more and more attention in the world of music, from an ever larger audience.

How to describe in words her presence in the universe that’s larger than any imagination, the universe of music:

‘I am therefore I sing’

I feel  her  message  throughout her musical career, in her album “Canto di Gioia” (Song of Joy) on stage, and in this beautiful interpretation of “Mandoline”, composed by Claude Debussy, in 1883, for piano and soloist on the poem of Paul Verlaine. A composition exuding youth, and its capacity of playfulness, freedom and happyness…Of love everlasting.   Mandoline
by Paul Verlaine 1844-1896, written in 1870

Les donneurs de sérénades
Et les belles écouteuses
Échangent des propos fades
Sous les ramures chanteuses.

C’est Tircis et c’est Aminte,
Et c’est l’éternel Clitandre,
Et c’est Damis qui pour mainte
Cruelle fait maint vers tendre.

Leurs courtes vestes de soie,
Leurs longues robes à queues,
Leur élégance, leur joie
Et leurs molles ombres bleues,

Tourbillonent dans l’extase
D’une lune rose et grise,
Et la mandoline jase
Parmi les frissons de brise.

The courtly serenaders,
  The beauteous listeners,
Sit idling ‘neath the branches
  A balmy zephyr stirs.

It’s Tircis and Aminta,
  Clitandre,—ever there!—
Damis, of melting sonnets
  To many a frosty fair.

Their trailing flowery dresses,
  Their fine beflowered coats,
Their elegance and lightness,
  And shadows blue,—all floats

And mingles,—circling, wreathing,
  In moonlight opaline,
While through the zephyr’s harping
  Tinkles the mandoline.

    • She has a lovely voice…too bad people are stuck on the past, and that the present would rather be rapping…In finer analysis it is still all up the chance of the times, of the moment, and then talent (talent unrecognized…what is that?) more than anything else: We only have to ask ourselves why, why are we allowing an entertainment industry, and impresarios to decide what’s good for us It is the reason I thought I would give a little encouragement..
THanks for youe comment, I hope you share her talent with others! Let us be the promoters for once!

CAt despre limba, interpreteaza si in latina si in italiana cu naturaletea unui vorbitor curent.

  13. Intr-adevar o soprana cu voce ingereasca ! Minunat. O bucurie in plus creata de editarea versurilor. Spre rusinea mea , nu le cunosteam si evident sunt mult mai frumoase citite in limba in care au fost scrise. .
