China Opens World’s Longest Sea Bridge

At 26.3 miles (42.4 km) in length, the newly opened Jiaozhou Bay bridge in China is the world’s longest over-water bridge. It beat out the previous record-holder, the Lake Pontchartrain Causeway in the US state of Louisiana, by more than 2.5 miles (4 km). The bridge took 4 years to complete and cost more than 1.5 billion dollars to construct. It is expected to be used by about 30,000 cars per day and will cut commute time between Qingdao and Huangdao by about 30 minutes. More… Discuss
