Climate Change Could Displace Entire Island Nation

For the residents of Kiribaticlimate change is a very real threat. Many of the island nation’s coral atolls rise just a few feet above sea level, and some villages have already had to move due to rising waters and altered storm patterns. A number of strategies have been proposed to protect the nation and its inhabitants from the effects of climate change, including a dramatic plan to move Kiribati’s entire population of 103,000 to a 6,000-acre tract of land on the Fijian island of Viti Levu.
