Medical Implants Vulnerable to Hack Attacks

For many patients, medical implants like pacemakers, defibrillators, and insulin pumps are lifesavers, but it turns out that these devices could also leave them vulnerable to dangerous attacks. Researchers have found that radio signals and wireless links used to test, interrogate, and update these devices can be hijacked by hackers with potentially life-threatening results. Though the likelihood of such an attack is remote, security experts are encouraging manufacturers to address these issues now, before they become a more serious problem. More…
