from the fishbowl (poetic thought by George-B)

from the fishbowl  (Poetic Thought by George-B)

Activism from the fishbowl,
is a rare human achievement

In the humanbowl we swim,
feeling protected from the uncharted scene outside
In the humanbowl we fly, keeping the air in mind,

so at least one survives
the flight….

upon arrival, he reports to …no one.

All so natural (poetic thought by George-B)

All so natural (poetic thought by George-B)

A toy unwinding one last turn
A frog held by the egret’s beak ,
A turtle on its back,
A duck pedaling while in full tilt,
A grasshopper glued on a frog’s tongue
A giraffe caught between two trees

A fish speeding from another fish,
A puffer fish ingested by a shark…

All so natural, all so self serving…

A man, who eats his neighbor’s food,
reads his paper, reads his letters
And pretend they all belong to him…

A g-d that seams to let it all occur.

Massachusetts Principal Bans “Honors Night” To Avoid “Devastating” Non-Honors Students

Indeed, Mediocrity is bliss!

JONATHAN TURLEY

article-2296757-18D2FAE7000005DC-226_634x328For years, I have been struck by the trend in schools for recognizing everyone or no one in awards ceremonies. Last year, I watched an award ceremony where everyone not given any award for academic excellence was given an award at our public school. The same logic appears to be motivating Principal David Fabrizio of Ipswich Middle School in Massachusetts. Fabrizio has ended a long standing tradition of “Honors Night” because the failure to be part of it could be “devastating” to the students not receiving honors. He noted that some children do not have parents who are supportive at night and do not make honors due to poor home conditions.

New Jersey Democrat Accused Of Using Campaign Funds For Trip To Scotland And Celebrating Daughter’s Graduation

Way to go Bobby, another demoncrat!

JONATHAN TURLEY

2005-05-13_015-DCThe New Jersey delegation clearly likes to travel . . . on someone else’s tab. Sen. Bob Menendez (D., N.J.) is reportedly under grand jury investigation for those trips to the Dominican Republic. WIth or without prostitutes, as we discussed earlier, the trips are highly problematic. Now, there is an ethics investigation of Rep. Robert Andrews (D-N.J.) who once vowed to “drain the swamp” of corruption in the House. It appears that Andrews needed to get out of the swamp for expensive trips that were allegedly paid for by campaign funds.

Balanced budget

Rudy says, Rudy don’t think! Rudy perrot talk!

Bell Book Candle

Yesterday on FOX, Rudy Giuliani stated the standard GOP policy line that families, cities and states must balance their budgets and thus the Federal government must balance its budget too. That is a false analogy. Cities and states must balance their budgets by law, and they cannot issue their own currency. Sovereign nations outside the European Union can and do issue their own currencies and thus need not balance their budgets annually. Rudy was being deliberately obtuse or he is economically illiterate. Perhaps as a former mayor of New York City, he is not familiar with budgeting at the Federal level.

It is true that families and the Federal government must balance their budgets or generate a surplus to pay down debt over the intermediate to long-term, but it is not true that both families and the Federal government must balance their budgets annually. Families and the Federal…

Securing your personal tracking device

The Daily Deconstructor

Jacob Applebaum has called cell phones ‘your personal tracking device’.  He should know since having three of his cell phone seized by federal agents and never returned.

Hell he isn’t even legally allowed to discuss what happened to his phones!

Jacob Applebaum gave a very interesting talk to Occupy New York about how to secure your life online from unlawful surveillance from the state.

Its a long talk but well worth listening closely to what he is telling us.  (Part two of this talk describes the practical means of securing your life online).

I don’t want to be a hand-wringing gloomazoid so I’m going to be blogging about the practical suggestions Jake makes to secure your life online.

One of the Android apps he suggested is RedPhone.  This app encrypts your VoIP calls allowing encrypted calling between any user with the RedPhone app installed on their phone.

Its…

Chiese fortificate di #Transilvania

Great post!

Pensieri Scomposti

Work The Dream

Shadows can do two things. If you are standing in your own shadow, then you are allowing the darkness to engulf you. But, if you are looking at your shadow and seeing it larger than life, then you are giving power to yourself.

This is me and how I see myself. Son says I use my power chair like it is part of my body and I do. Some people look awkward and ill at ease when in a wheelchair or power chair. And that limits them. I see myself like above and do not even see the power chair under me. A dear friend told me the other day that she never even noticed the forearm crutches I used when she came to visi me in person because she was too busy seeing me…Deb.

When we are survivors, we step out into the sun and we…

Elie Wiesel: Injustice

Hear, hear: But does this apply to everybody? How many people can protest, and be able to correct injustice?

Today’s Birthday: JOHANN PAUL FRIEDRICH RICHTER, AKA JOHN PAUL (1763) a Writer

Johann Paul Friedrich Richter, AKA John Paul (1763)

The son of a German pastor, Richter initially planned to follow in his father’s footsteps, but after studying theology at university, he found a new passion in writing. He published two poorly received satirical works before suffering a spiritual crisis that profoundly altered his outlook and writing style. His next book, Die unsichtbare Loge, The Invisible Lodge, a romance published in 1793, was the first of his many works to receive acclaim. Who inspired his pen name, Jean Paul? More… Discuss

This Day in the Yesteryear: THE FIRST ROCK MAJOR CONCERT IS HELD, GETS SHUT DOWN (1952)

The First Rock Major Concert Is Held, Gets Shut Down (1952)

On the night of March 21, 1952, more than 20,000 fans tried to pack into the Cleveland Arena, which had an actual capacity of about half that number. Consequently, authorities shut down that evening’s concert, the Moondog Coronation Ball, just minutes into the opening act, Paul Williams and his Hucklebuckers. The show is considered to have been the first major rock concert in history. It was promoted by Alan Freed, the Cleveland disc jockey believed to have coined what term? More… Discuss

WARMING TEMPERATURES COULD CAUSE MORE KATRINAS

Warming Temperatures Could Cause More Katrinas

One hopes that storms such as 2005’s Hurricane Katrina, which devastated the Gulf Coast, and last year’s Superstorm Sandy, which caused fatalities in nine countries and upwards of $75 billion in damage, would be few and far between. Unfortunately, researchers are projecting that the number of Atlantic hurricanes of this magnitude will dramatically rise over the coming years. These storms are extremely temperature sensitive, and given the warming that took place over the course of the 20th century, researchers expect the number of Katrina-strength storms to double in the 21st. If global temperatures continue to rise, this number could get even higher. More… Discuss

and then the cold (poetic thought by George-B)

and then the cold (poetic thought by George-B)

And so it was
The blue immersed in red
With no other contact than the center
Pulsing like a engorged vein, huff, huff,
Repulsing like a tapered vein, hmm, hmm,

Nothing taken for granted, nothing to be thankful
Except for the huff, and hmm….and then fainter,
and after a while

Silence…
And then the cold…
