People believe what they want to believe

But of course, telling them what to believe (sometimes with an emphasis on OR ELSE), also works really good!

By now, you should be convinced of turmeric’s amazing ability to fight off numerous carcinogenic properties, as study after study has distinctly showcased the spice’s cancer-fighting properties. But just in case you aren’t yet convinced, here is even more research on the subject. In a study conducted last year and published in the journal PLoS One, researchers from the University of Kansas Cancer Center and Medical Center found that curcumin, the active ingredient in the spice turmeric, has the power to inhibit the growth of esophageal cancer cell lines.

In the study, the researchers observed multiple effects sparked by curcumin. First, curcumin treatment was found to halt proliferation in esophageal cancer cell lines. This means that cancer cells can no longer multiply as…

Sting – Shape of my Heart (Leon, The Professional)

Send “Shape Of My Heart” Ringtone to your Cell

Sting,  The shape of my Heart

He deals the cards as a meditation
And those he plays never suspect
He doesn’t play for the money he wins
He don’t play for respect
He deals the cards to find the answer
The sacred geometry of chance
The hidden law of a probable outcome
The numbers lead a dance
I know that the spades are the swords of a soldier
I know that the clubs are weapons of war
I know that diamonds mean money for this art
But that’s not the shape of my heart
He may play the jack of diamonds
He may lay the queen of spades
He may conceal a king in his hand
While the memory of it fades
I know that the spades are the swords of a soldier
I know that the clubs are weapons of war
I know that diamonds mean money for this art
But that’s not the shape of my heart
And if I told you that I loved you
You’d maybe think there’s something wrong
I’m not a man of too many faces
The mask I wear is one
Those who speak know nothing
And find out to their cost
Like those who curse their luck in too many places
And those who fear are lost
I know that the spades are the swords of a soldier
I know that the clubs are weapons of war
I know that diamonds mean money for this art
But that’s not the shape of my heart

WordPress.com: Should “Settings” Be Your Choice? (Please take part in this important survey)

I have recently experienced some unwanted activity on my website. To be more specific, some of the followers have associated with you too, my very welcome and followers.

In today’s world ,  I should think that the most fundamental right as a blog administrator would be to decides, upon revising the content who will, or not be approved to become your blogging family.
As I requested several times and through different avenues, WordPress.com so far dismissed my requests to implement Setting choices, allowing us to decide who will, or will not follow us, based upon subject matter, interests, language, and so many other valid criteria in existence here at WordPress.com.

At this time WordPress.com has no way to allow us the choice of moderating access, compared to Twitter, or even Facebook.

I think that Twitter services have a direct, easy to use, friendly way of empowering a member to freedom of association, and everyone of us is entitled to, without having o ask WordPress.com administration to do that for us upon request (which as I said earlier does not work, or even worse to have to directly contact such followers, which is beneath me (at least).

Here is how Twitter deal with this issue, at a immediate action of the twitter user (highlighted in yellow):

Twitter v. WordPress Settings

Twitter v. WordPress Settings

Following is a Poll (my first) asking for your input in this issue, and the question is:

“Should the administrator of a WordPress.com be allowed to decide upon the membership at their site?”

Should you need further clarification on this matter, please feel free to comment, before voting!

Thank you Friends! (as you can see this is NOT about you, it is about us all, I am sure you can too see why

Following is one example for the reasons I requested that word.press.com, allow for administrators’ settings. It would save time, and allow one the peace and tranquility of not having to interact with unwitty profane and vulgar characters!

US Budget cuts claim air traffic control towers

Hundreds of air-traffic control towers in the US are facing closure because of budget cuts. Without air traffic control towers, pilots will have to co-ordinate takeoffs and landings themselves. Al Jazeera’s John Hendren reports from Chicago.

FAA Closing 149 Regional Airport Control Towers, 40 Others Spared

Towers closed

Towers remaining open

Washington (CNN/WIBW) — The FAA on Friday announced it will close 149 regional airport control towers because of forced spending cuts — sparing 40 others that the FAA had been expected to shutter.

Topeka’s Forbes Field tower was removed for an initial list slated to close, however six Kansas towers failed to be saves. Those include Billard Airport and Manhattan Regional Airport.

A four-week, phased closure of the 149 control towers will begin on April 7, the FAA said.

The FAA had been expected to announce the closure of 189…

Emmy Noether — Biography & Physics (3.7)

SPEAKER: Ransom Stephens, Ph.D.

Amalie Emmy Noether (1882 — 1935) was an influential German mathematician known for her groundbreaking contributions to abstract algebra and theoretical physics. Described by Albert Einstein and others as the most important woman in the history of mathematics; she revolutionized the theories of rings, fields, and algebras.

In physics, Noether’s theorem explains the fundamental connection between symmetry and conservation laws. Emmy Noether made perhaps the most significant discovery of the 20th century.
A female Jewish intellectual in Nazi Germany (you can do that math) Emmy’s was a special approach to life.

Emmy Noether’s Theorem ties the laws of nature — from Newton’s laws to thermodynamics to charge conservation — directly to the geometry of space and time, the very fabric of reality. It is the basis for the standard model of particle physics, quantum electrodynamics, and grand unified theories including super-symmetry and super-strings. As usual in physics, it gets really interesting when the theorem is violated: answers to the origin of mass and the matter-antimatter asymmetry problems emerge when Noether’s theorem is violated. Two things should bother you about Noether’s Theorem:

(1) how come so few people have heard of Emmy Noether?

and (2) why isn’t her theorem well known to lovers of science?

Speaker Info:

Ransom Stephens, Ph.D., is a professor of particle physics turned writer and speaker. He has worked on experiments at SLAC, Fermilab, CERN, and Cornell; discovered a new type of matter formed by the fusion of two photons, made the most precise measurements of rare bottom quark decays in the world, and was on the team that discovered the top quark. His new novel, The God Patent (www.TheGodPatent.com), is set in the battle between science and religion over the nature of the soul and the origin of the universe. It features a character based on the turn of the century mathematician, Emmy Noether.

Emmy Noether (1882)

After Noether died, Albert Einstein wrote in a letter to The New York Times that she was “the most significant creative mathematical genius thus far produced since the higher education of women began.” Her contributions to abstract algebra and theoretical physics were groundbreaking, evidenced by the inclusion of her name in several concepts, including “Noether’s Theorem,” “Noetherian module,” “Noetherian ring,” and “Noetherian induction.” Where were her ashes buried? More… Discuss

This Day in the Yesteryear: FIRST PASSENGER ELEVATOR INSTALLED (1857)

First Passenger Elevator Installed (1857)

Elevators—in one form or another—have been used to make human life easier since ancient times. They were once just simple hoists but are now incredibly complex mechanical systems. One of the most significant advances came in 1853 with the invention of a safety device to prevent elevators from plummeting in the event of cable failure. Four years later, the first passenger elevator was installed, paving the way for taller buildings and the urban geography of modern cities. Where was it installed? More… Discuss

Goldbeater’s Skin

Made from the outer membrane of a cow’s intestine, goldbeater’s skin is a parchment with unusual properties that make it uniquely suited for certain applications. Thin and elastic, it is traditionally used to separate layers of gold as they are hammered into infinitesimally thin sheets. It is also used in the hygrometer, a device used to measure humidity, and in the reeds of oboes. The world’s available supply of goldbeater’s skin was once exhausted by what new use for the material? More… Discuss
