We are children of a large family, and must learn, as such children do, not to expect that our hurts will be made much of—to be content with little nurture and caressing, and help each other the more.
Bandaranaike’s husband became prime minister of Ceylon in 1956 and was assassinated three years later. In the election that followed, Bandaranaike’s party was victorious—making her the world’s first female prime minister. She headed two coalition governments and served again as prime minister when she was appointed by her daughter, Chandrika Kumaratunga, who was elected president in 1994. While in office, Bandaranaike promoted a new constitution that changed the country’s name to what?More… Discuss
Introduced at a relatively affordable $2,368, the Ford Mustang took the American auto market by storm. The initial sales projection of 100,000 units in the first year was surpassed within months, and a record 418,000 were on the road within the year. That year, the Mustang was featured in the James Bond film Goldfinger and appeared as the pace car at the Indianapolis 500, helping secure its iconic status. The original pony car, the very first Mustang model has what unusual designation? More… Discuss

Lab-grown human kidneys are not yet on the horizon, but researchers believe they have taken the first steps in that direction. A team from Massachusetts General Hospital has engineered rat kidneys that functioned and produced urine following implantation. Though the organs were only marginally effective, the results indicate that researchers are on the right track. To create the organs, researchers first stripped rat kidneys of their cells and then seeded the remaining collagen scaffolds with a combination of human and rat cells. More… Discuss
After the once-clandestine Phi Beta Kappa became an open honor society, several Yale University students founded their own secret society—the Order of the Skull and Bones—in 1832. In response to a dispute with Skull and Bones, several other Yale students founded the similarly secret Scroll and Key in 1841. A third secret society—now known as Wolf’s Head—was formed in 1883. The society for senior students became co-ed when its alumni association voted to admit women in what year? More… Discuss

The Strategy of Tension
Government’s behind many “terror” bombings
Project Gladio in Italy attempted to use domestic terrorism on a longstanding basis to maintain the political status quo. Seems to be a strategy also discussed in the report from Iron Mountain. The tactics beat down the public disfavor with the present government with fear of a ubiquitous, and nebulous threat so that the same masses ultimately seek protection from the government, and conform to the government’s political order and agenda as a quid pro quo. Sometimes the far right is infiltrated and made a scape goat; other times a leftist patsy is apprehended and held in public display.

POLICE are searching an apartment in a Boston suburb as authorities confirm the search is now part of the investigation into the explosions at the Boston Marathon.
Police search apartment in Revere, Boston as part of probe into marathon bombs that killed three and injured 144
- News Limited Network
- April 16, 2013
Two bombs exploded in the packed streets near the finish line of the Boston Marathon today, killing three and injuring more than 144 in a terrifying scene of shattered glass, bloodstained pavement and severed limbs at the world’s oldest and most prestigious marathon.
There was no word on the motive or who may have carried out the attack, and police said they had no suspects in custody. However, at least two people are “talking with police”.
At the White House, President Barack Obama vowed that those responsible…

Butterfly Boy Bronze Statue unveiled at Jane Bancroft Cook Library (Florida), January 28, 2010
Sculptor, Sidney Fagin.
I NEVER SAW ANOTHER BUTTERLY
The last, the very last,
So richly, brightly, dazzlingly yellow.
Perhaps if the sun’s tears would sing
against a white stone. . . .
Such, such a yellow
Is carried lightly ‘way up high.
It went away I’m sure because it wished to
kiss the world good-bye.
For seven weeks I’ve lived in here,
Penned up inside this ghetto.
But I have found what I love here.
The dandelions call to me
And the white chestnut branches in the court.
Only I never saw another butterfly.
That butterfly was the last one.
Butterflies don’t live in here,
in the ghetto.

‘Smells of gunpowder’
” Police took a 20-year-old Saudi national into custody near the scene of yesterday’s horrific Boston Marathon bomb attack, law-enforcement sources told The Post.
The potential suspect was questioned by the FBI and local police yesterday at Boston’s Brigham and Women’s Hospital, where he was under heavy guard while being treated for shrapnel injuries to his leg sustained in the blast.
In late afternoon, a large group of federal and state law enforcement agents raided an apartment in a building in the Saudi man’s hometown of Revere, Mass.
FBI agents could be seen through one window. It was not clear what, if anything, they found. But Revere fire officials said they were called out to support bomb-squad officers as part of an investigation of a “person of interest” in the…
