Quotation: George Eliot on Family likeness and differences

Family likeness has often a deep sadness in it. Nature, that great tragic dramatist, knits us together by bone and muscle, and divides us by the subtler web of our brains; blends yearning and repulsion; and ties us by our heart-strings to the beings that jar us at every movement.

This Day in the Yesteryear: THE TRIPLE SIX FIX (1980)

The Triple Six Fix (1980)

The Triple Six Fix was a plot to rig the Pennsylvania Lottery. Masterminded by Nick Perry, the lottery’s television announcer, the scheme focused on the Daily Number game, in which players pay to select a three-digit number in hopes of matching theirs to the one drawn from a container of numbered ping-pong balls. The balls are selected by a vacuum, so Perry planned to cheat the game by weighting all but two of the balls—numbers four and six—and buying combinations of those numbers. Did it work? More…Discuss

Today’s Birthday: ANTHONY TROLLOPE (1815) an English novelist

Anthony Trollope (1815)

One of the great English novelists, Trollope spent seven unhappy years in London as a postal clerk before transferring to Ireland in 1841. Soon after, while still working for the postal service, he began writing. Working mainly before breakfast and at a fixed rate of 1,000 words an hour, he produced 47 novels, including the six interconnected Barsetshire novels and the highly regarded, satirical The Way We Live Now. What did he describe as “the most wretched fortnight of my manhood”? More… Discuss

Weight Bias Goes Both Ways

Despite their extensive medical trainingdoctorsare not immune to the stereotypes and stigma related to obesity. Previous research has shown that medical professionals routinely stereotype overweight patients, and a new survey shows that patients judge doctors by their physiques as well. Respondents in a recent survey said that they are less likely totrust or follow the advice of a physician who is overweight or obese. Considering that about half of the doctors in the US fall into these categories, this sort of weight bias could have significant and widespread consequences. More… Discuss

” An Army Of Jareds ” … NRA Student Returns To School With A Hundred Allies

Trigger happy, fully impervious to justice oppressive systems operating above the law!

West Virginia Teen Returns To School With NRA Shirt, Classmates’ Support

” A West Virginia teen who was arrested and suspended for wearing a National Rifle Association T-shirt to school returned to class Monday wearing the same shirt that got him into trouble.

Jared Marcum, 14, was joined by about 100 other students across Logan County who wore shirts with a similar gun rights theme in a show of support for free speech.

Ben White, the Charleston lawyer representing the Logan eighth-grader, said the Sons of the Second Amendment, a gun rights group, purchased and distributed the shirts.

Jared, a student at Logan Middle School, was arrested and suspended Thursday after he was pulled from a cafeteria line and told to remove or turn his shirt inside-out an order he refused.

Video evidence in the case, Mr. White said, indicates that the situation in…

So, Texas want to break away from the USA? Please give this a glance, it relates to Boston

Before OSHA, The EPA, should have done an Environmental Impact Study, to take under consideration the consequences of such industry in the middle of a community.
Anhydrous Ammonia is lethal through inhalation in the smallest amounts, as a simple asphyxiant, and a minimum area of 1 mile should be the calculated impact area in case of spills due to ruptured containers: Yet the community is right there within hundred of yards.
All communities should learn from this terrible accident and demand safe housing away from such massacres waiting to happen: While not unavoidable, the risk undertaken by such enterprise is gigantic, or it should be, due to the devastating nature of the consequences of accidents! I would not live anywhere under a mile from such industrial plants (if I was informed) if they give me money, free installment as no amenities can replace your life!

Romanian Senator Catalin Voicu Gets 7 Years Jail Sentence For Influence Peddling

Where there is LAW there is CONSEQUENCE: When everybody is considered under the LAW! AND IN A CIVILIZED SOCIETY EVERYBODY SHOULD BE UNDER THE LAW!

Communication for Development of Ideas

On 22 April 2013, the Supreme Court of Romania handed a final decision convicting Catalin Voicu, former Senator for the Social-Democrats, to 7 years jail sentence with no appeal while the convictee gets comfortably walked around hospitals for obesity treatment, diabetes, heart condition, rectal hemorrhaging and anemia.

How many more hospitals and anemias before jail, Catalin Voicu? There’s a national trend in Romania to get treatment for all possible diseases minutes before a jail sentence is handed. Hospitals are doing wonders in listing them all of a sudden!

Others have tried to enact a suicide attempt with Burberry scarves and now are alive and giving interviews so this time it’s rectal hemorrhaging… anemia is a bit far fetched though! Hopefully Romania gets upgraded in its MCV Justice Report with the EU this time.

New GMO Wheat May ‘Silence’ Vital Human Genes (GMO: Science you cannot trust!)

GMO Science you cannot trust! Could this be the biggest silent killer of all times? Why not: the real science is there to substantiate this fact!

Stop playing God, leave nature alone!

Family Survival Protocol - Microcosm News

By Dr. Mercola

Australia’s Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (CSIRO) has developed a type of genetically modified (GM) wheat that may silence human genes, leading to disastrous health consequences.

Last year, University of Canterbury Professor Jack Heinemann released results from genetic research he conducted on the wheat, which showed with “no doubt” that molecules created in the wheat, which are intended to silence wheat genes to change its carbohydrate content, may match human genes and potentially silence them.

University Professor Judy Carman agreed with Heinemann’s analysis, stating in Digital Journal:1

“If this silences the same gene in us that it silences in the wheat — well, children who are born with this enzyme not working tend to die by the age of about five.”

Over 770 Pages of Potential Genetic Matches

Heinemann reported that his research revealed over 770 pages of potential matches between two GM genes…

As U.S. Continues To Spend Fortune In Afghanistan, Karzai Turns To China

A maneuver classical for for those parts of the world! Which proves again that one cannot save anyone from oneself!

225px-hamid_karzai_2004-06-14Afghan President Hamid Karzai has spent years denouncing the United States as we have continued to pour hundreds of billions into this country (and his corrupt family and government). Now, Karzai has called on China to come in and guarantee security in the country as he continues to call on the United States to get out. Despite these consistent attacks on the U.S. and Americans as “demons”, the Obama Administration continues to put our soldiers in harms way and spend money that is badly needed at home in this country. So, while the Administration is cutting back on FAA towers and slowing air travel, we will continue to spend wildly in a country seeking to replace us with China. Brilliant.

Saint George’s Day is 23 April.

Saint George

Saint George is the patron saint of England. He’s popularly identified with England and English ideals of honour, bravery and gallantry – but actually he wasn’t English at all. Very little, if anything, is known about the real Saint George. Pope Gelasius said that George is one of the saints “whose names are rightly reverenced among us, but whose actions are known only to God.”>>>>>>>>>>>>more HERE  Continue reading

STEPHEN A. DOUGLAS (1950) an orator

Stephen A. Douglas (1950)

Short and heavyset, Douglas was dubbed “the Little Giant” for his oratorical skill. In 1858, he engaged in a number of widely publicized debates with Abraham Lincoln in a close contest for the Senate seat in Illinois. The Democrats nominated Douglas for president in 1860, but a splinter group of Southerners chose a different nominee, which divided the Democratic vote and gave the presidency to Lincoln. What extraordinary gesture was Douglas said to have offered at Lincoln’s inauguration in 1861? More…Discuss

Norway Planning Ship Tunnel Project

Norway already boasts the world’s longest road tunnel, and it soon may have the world’s first proper ship tunnel. The Norwegian government is backing a $300-million (1.7-billion-kroner) plan to construct a tunnel linking theNorwegian Sea to the North Sea beneath the mountainous Stad peninsula. Upon completion, the tunnel will be able to accommodate 16,000 tonneships. The plan was first proposed in the 19th century, but financial considerations shelved it until now. More… Discuss
