If there is one person I do despise more than another, it is the man who does not think exactly the same on all topics as I do.

An enthusiastic amateur Egyptologist, Carnarvon was an English aristocrat who funded several excavations in Egypt. After pursuits in Thebes, he joined forces with English Egyptologist Howard Carter to search for Tutankhamun’s tomb in the Valley of the Kings. In 1922, the two opened the young Pharaoh‘s crypt, discovering treasures unsurpassed in the history of archaeology. Carnarvon’s death a year after the discovery became linked to the legendary “Mummy’s Curse.” What really killed him? More…Discuss
In 1963, US President John F. Kennedy traveled to West Berlin to show support for those living behind the Berlin Wall, hemmed in by Soviet-controlled East Germany. Considered a key moment in the Cold War, Kennedy’s speech boosted morale for West Germans, who feared Communist occupation. Kennedy was apparently coached on the pronunciation of the famous line “Ich bin ein Berliner”—”I am a Berliner”—just before taking the stage. Why has it been reported that he in fact said “I am a jelly doughnut”? More…Discuss

Teens whose parents have talked to them about losing weight or the importance of being thin are more likely to try unhealthy weight-control measures, like skipping meals or taking laxatives, than those whose parents have raised the issue of healthy eating. While this does not prove that parents provoke these unhealthy behaviors in their children by discussing weight, it does suggest that focusing on healthy eating instead could send a more positive message and could result in better outcomes. Parallels, poetic thought by George-B
The parallels between us
have been never vertical –
as you have always been terrified by heights
Nor have they been horizontal –
As I have always been terrified by platitudes
We made them ramped, instead –
and further more: with alternating ups and downs…
Do you think we succeeded?
now after all that blogging: Ergonomics! Do some “I don’t know exercises: really raise your shoulders few times!

Negli occhi suoi spunto:
Quelle festosee giovani
Invidiar sembro.
Che piu cercando io vo?
M’ama, lo vedo.
Un solo instante
I palpiti Del suo bel cor sentir!
I miei sospir, confondere
Per poco a’ suoi sospir!
Cielo, si puo morir!
Di piu non chiedo.
English Translation
One tear that falls so furtively
From her sweet eyes has just sprung,
As if she envied all the youths
Who laughingly passed her right by.
What could I want more than this?
She loves me!
I see it.
One moment just to hear her heart,
Beating so close next to mine,
To hear my sighs like they were hers,
Her sighings as if they were mine!
Heavens, please take me now:
All that I wanted is mine now!
Franz Liszt (October 22, 1811 — July 31, 1886) was a 19th-century Hungarian composer, pianist, conductor, and teacher.
Liszt became renowned throughout Europe during the nineteenth century for his virtuosic skill as a pianist. He was said by his contemporaries to have been the most technically advanced pianist of his age and perhaps the greatest pianist of all time.
The Hungarian Rhapsodies, S.244, R106, (French: Rhapsodies hongroises, German: Ungarische Rhapsodien, Hungarian: Magyar rapszódiák) is a set of 19 piano pieces based on Hungarian folk themes, composed by Franz Liszt during 1846-1853, and later in 1882 and 1885. Liszt additionally arranged versions for orchestra, piano duet and piano trio.

The Rondo in C for Violin and Orchestra, K. 373, was composed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart in April of 1781. The rondo was likely written for Italian violinst Antonio Brunetti, who is known to have also requested both the Adagio in E and Rondo in B-flat. The Rondo in C, however, was written years after the five numbered violin concertos. The work is scored for solo violin, two oboes, two horns and strings. The Rondo is marked Allegretto grazioso, and a performance typically lasts about 6 minutes.
