Rattlesnake Hilltop (Turnbull Canyon) Puente Hills, California August 3, 2013

Filmed with an “LG OPTIMUS ELITE”,
It is always a great “Vista Point” from this hilltop, and always a privilege
to be able to do the walk, which is not as easy as it used to be. Only 1.7 miles from Beverly Blvd. @ Turnbull Canyon Trail, still a uphill road all the way. But the view is so gratifying, and the people around so friendly, that it is worth every moment, every breath…See you there sometimes! Get off your couch and get going!
Must have:
Water, UV filtering glasses, head covering, sunblock lotion, and a positive attitude!
Best exercise, if you are wealthy enough to attend to, is walking, and walking uphill is a perfect Cardio training, not requiring an equipment:  Just your legs!
Start today!

White clouds, blue skies, all seen through the green branches of the trees, with a background of running breeze through the fresh, green leafage…If we are lucky enough we can just let it fill us with the miracle of nature we take for granted every moment because:
There is nothing to replace it, nothing to act as its surrogate, nothing in waiting, after all this natural creation is destroyed.
Respect and preserve nature, find its meaning keep it clean, as you would your garden…It is your garden!

This insignificant video was taken under a tree along the trail at Turnbull Canyon, yesterday. Enjoy!

Claude Debussy – La Mer (The Sea)

La mer, trois esquisses symphoniques pour orchestre HD (French for The sea, three symphonic sketches for orchestra), or simply La mer (i.e. The Sea), is an orchestral composition (L 109) by the French composer Claude Debussy. It was started in 1903 in France and completed in 1905 on the English Channel coast in Eastbourne. The premiere was given by the Lamoureux Orchestra under the direction of Camille Chevillard on 15 October 1905 in Paris. The piece was initially not well received – partly because of inadequate rehearsal and partly because of Parisian outrage over Debussy’s having recently left his first wife for the singer Emma Bardac. But it soon became one of Debussy’s most admired and frequently performed orchestral works, and became more so in the ensuing century. The first recording was made by Piero Coppola in 1928.
La mer is scored for 2 flutes, piccolo, 2 oboes, cor anglais, 2 clarinets, 3 bassoons, contrabassoon, 4 horns, 3 trumpets, 2 cornets, 3 trombones, tuba, timpani, bass drum, cymbals, triangle, tamtam, glockenspiel, 2 harps and strings.
typical performance of this piece lasts about 23 or 24 minutes. It is in three movements:
(~09:00) “De l’aube à midi sur la mer” – très lent (si mineur)
(~06:30) “Jeux de vagues” – allegro (do dièse mineur)
(~08:00) “Dialogue du vent et de la mer” – animé et tumultueux (do dièse mineur)
Usually translated as:
“From dawn to noon on the sea” or “From dawn to midday on the sea” – very slowly (B minor)
“Play of the Waves” – allegro (C sharp minor)
“Dialogue of the wind and the sea” or “Dialogue between wind and waves” – animated and tumultuous (C sharp minor)

Free Speech Zone

Free speech zones are, in the US, fenced-in areas set aside in public places for activists to exercise their right to free speech. Though the zones give protesters space to voice their opinions, critics claim that the cages in fact censor dissenters by delineating where they must be when expressing themselves. Free speech zones were widely used during Vietnam-era protests and are still used at various political events. For whom did one California airport install free speech zones in the 1990s? More… Discuss
