Bon Jovi – Livin’ On A Prayer

Music video by Bon Jovi performing Livin’ On A Prayer. (C) 1986 The Island Def Jam Music Group

“Livin’ On A Prayer”

Once upon a time
Not so long ago

Tommy used to work on the docks
Union’s been on strike
He’s down on his luck…it’s tough, so tough
Gina works the diner all day
Working for her man, she brings home her pay
For love – for love

She says we’ve got to hold on to what we’ve got
‘Cause it doesn’t make a difference
If we make it or not
We’ve got each other and that’s a lot
For love – we’ll give it a shot

Whooah, we’re half way there
Livin’ on a prayer
Take my hand and we’ll make it – I swear
Livin’ on a prayer

Tommy’s got his six string in hock
Now he’s holding in what he used
To make it talk – so tough, it’s tough
Gina dreams of running away
When she cries in the night
Tommy whispers baby it’s okay, someday

We’ve got to hold on to what we’ve got
‘Cause it doesn’t make a difference
If we make it or not
We’ve got each other and that’s a lot
For love – we’ll give it a shot

We’ve got to hold on ready or not
You live for the fight when it’s all that you’ve got

Nicolo Paganini – Capriccio n º 24 en la menor

Fabulous Interpretations ; Zimerman Beethoven piano concerto no 2

Piano Concerto No. 2 in B flat op.19
Perform by Wiener Philharmoniker
Soloist & Conductor – Krystian Zimerman

Quotation: Ambrose Bierce

The Past is the region of sobs, the Future is the realm of song. In the one crouches Memory, clad in sackcloth and ashes, mumbling penitential prayer; in the sunshine of the other Hope flies with a free wing, beckoning to temples of success and bowers of ease.

Today’s Birthday: JOAN GANZ COONEY (1929)

Joan Ganz Cooney (1929)

Cooney worked as a newspaper reporter and television publicist before becoming a producer for a public television station in New York City. There, she developed the concepts for children’s programming that led to the incorporation of the Children’s Television Workshop (CTW) in 1968. Through innovative programs like Sesame Street and 3, 2, 1 Contact, CTW transformed children’s television and learning. What Emmy award-winning adult educational program did she help produce? More… Discuss

Meteorite Strikes Ann Elizabeth Hodges (1954)

Thousands of people are struck by lightning every year, but in 1954, Ann Hodges of Sylacauga, Alabama, became the first person in modern history to be hit by a meteorite. The incident left her badly bruised. Who prevailed in the dispute between Hodges and her landlord over ownership of the meteorite? More… Discuss

Effervescent Medicines Linked to Heart Attack and Stroke

In recent years, there has been a push to get food producers to cut the salt content of their products and to get individuals to cut their sodium intake, but the pharmaceutical industry could be unintentionally sabotaging these efforts and in fact putting millions of people at risk. Effervescent, dispersible, and soluble medicines contain high levels of salt and have been linked to a 16 percent increased risk of a heart attackstroke, or vascular death compared with patients taking lower-sodium versions of the same medications. Some of these drugs contain so much sodium that a person taking the maximum daily dose would exceed the daily recommended sodium limit without any other sodium sourceMore… Discuss

The James Ossuary

Dating to the 1st century CE, the James Ossuary is a limestone box containing human bones. There is little doubt the ossuary is authentic, but there has been great controversy over its Aramaic inscription: “James, son of Joseph, brother of Jesus.” Its owner, Israeli antiquities dealer Oded Golan, was prosecuted by Israeli authorities who charge that the inscription, or at least the last part of it, is a forgery—a stance also held by many, but not all, scholars. Where was the ossuary discovered? More…Discuss
