Claude Monet (1840)

A French landscape painter, Monet helped found the Impressionist movement in the late 19th century. In fact, the term “Impressionism” is derived from the title of one of his paintings, Impression: Sunrise. His renowned plein air, or outdoor, paintings capture natural landscapes with accents of sunlight and vibrant colors.
