i need a new view
something to soothe
my aching bones
and soul

need an escape
a get-away
a place to play
and let my thoughts
just drift away
.
need a chance
to step back in time
to the days when
i was just a youth
.
carefree and wild
the whole world
an adventure
calling out to me
.
need to kick back
let the wind drift over me
the scent of pine needles
all around me
snow-capped mountains
in the distance
tempting me
.

about Photo: This is the Absaroka Mountain Range and just happens to be not only photographer Richard Yarbrough’s stomping grounds for taking great photos like this one but also his back yard. This range is part of the Absaroka-Beartooth Wilderness which straddles the border between Montana and Wyoming. It sits within three national forests, Gallatin, Custer and Shoshone, and is managed by the Forest Service. It’s part of the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem and is nearly a million acres in size; 943,648 to be exact. The wilderness area contains two mountain ranges, the Beartooth Mountains and Absaroka Range.
