Water & Sewer bills have increased significantly over the past few years… and while I applaud Congress getting involved… it cannot be at the expense of water quality. The only thing worse than paying too much for water is paying for water that is undrinkable and unsafe.
Sadly, many members of Congress come from local government… local government is where it all begins. Water utility budget deficits share a direct connection to how much money the the local government has siphoned off for other expenses. The fleecing of America’s infrastructure reserves; pet-projects like new soccer fields or the need to pay for the Police Department Retirement Fund. Until a full investigation is performed as to where all the money has gone… Congress needs to be honest with itself.
