Today’s Holiday: Thailand Constitution Day

Today’s Holiday:
Thailand Constitution Day

In 1932, Thailand’s absolute monarchy was replaced with a constitutional monarchy. King Rama VII oversaw the transfer of power. Under the newly instituted constitution of that time, the monarchy remained in place and the king was designated the head of state. Thailand has had a series of 18 constitutions or charters since 1932, the latest one being adopted in 2007. Each has allowed for a constitutional monarchy with greater or lesser power. Celebrations on Constitution Day involve the people thanking the monarchy for granting them a chance to take part in running the country. This Day in History:
Imperial Japanese Navy Sinks Two British Warships (1941)

Japanese aggression in late 1941 prompted Britain to send two of their largest warships—HMS Prince of Wales and HMS Repulse—to the Pacific as a deterrent. However, war in the Pacific escalated with the bombing of Pearl Harbor on December 7. Three days later, Japanese forces destroyed the Prince of Wales and Repulse near Singapore. The warships were the first sunk by aircraft while at sea. How did British Prime Minister Winston Churchill react to the sinkings? The English Peasants’ Revolt of 1381

The first major popular rebellion in English history, the Peasants’ Revolt was the result of economic, social, and political discontent that came to a head when a new poll tax angered workers already resentful of legally fixed wage limits. Under the leadership of Wat Tyler, the rebels marched to London, captured the Tower of London, and beheaded officials responsible for the tax. King Richard II promised reforms, but instead Tyler was killed at the negotiations. What did the rebel army then do? More…: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tfd.mobile.TfdSearch

Joachim and Anne turn in surprise as an angel descends from above to tell them, despite their advanced age and their difficulty in conceiving a child, Anna will soon give birth to the Virgin Mary. The event takes place before a castlelike structure representing the Golden Gate, where the angel had instructed Joachim and Anne to meet. Make belly breathing automatic as a newly born’s: Watch “How to Practice Belly Breathing – Nemours Children’s Health System” on YouTube

Nemours Speech Pathologists Demonstrate Belly Breathing or Diaphragmatic Breathing I Diaphragmatic breathing is also called “belly breathing.” It’s a deep breath that tells the nervous system to calm down.

When babies are born, they naturally breathe from the belly. But, as kids get older, they start to breathe more shallowly from the chest.

(Demonstrate belly vs chest breathing)

We are going to learn belly breathing in 3 different positions.

First, let’s begin by lying comfortably down on our backs. Put one hand on your chest and one on your belly. Take a slow deep breath through your nose and feel your belly rise. Breathe out and feel your belly flatten. Try to keep the hand

on your chest as still as possible. Repeat for 1 0 breaths.

0 Place a small object on your belly instead

of your hand. Notice it how it moves up and down.

Next, stand up straight. Put one hand on your chest and one on your belly. Breathe in slowly through your nose and feel your belly rise. Breathe out and feel your belly flatten. Try to keep the hand on your chest as still as possible. Repeat for 10 breaths.

Finally, sit in a comfortable position. Place one hand on your chest and one on your belly. Breathe in slowly through your nose and feel your belly rise. Breathe out and feel your belly flatten. Try to keep the hand on your chest as still as possible. Repeat for 10 breaths.

These are the steps to learn belly breathing. Eventually you will want learn to do belly breathing while exercising.

° Practice belly breathing in all 3 positions (lying down, sitting, and standing) twice daily,

Complete 10 good belly breaths in each position.

0 The more you practice, the sooner diaphragmatic breathing will become your “automatic” breathing pattern once again!

Watch “Donovan – Season of the Witch” on YouTube

When I look out my window,
Many sights to see.
And when I look in my window,
So many different people to be,
That it’s strange, so strange.
You’ve got to pick up every stitch,
You’ve got to pick up every stitch,
You’ve got to pick up every stitch,
M-mm, must be the season of the witch,
Must be the season of the witch, yeah,
Must be the season of the witch.

When I look over my shoulder,
What do you think I see?
Some other cat looking over,
His shoulder at me,
And he’s strange, sure is strange.
You’ve got to pick up every stitch,
You’ve got to pick up every stitch,
Beatniks are out to make it rich,
Oh no, must be the season of the witch,
Must be the season of the witch, yeah,
Must be the season of the witch.

You’ve got to pick up every stitch,
The rabbits running in the ditch,
Beatniks are out to make it rich,
Oh no, must be the season of the witch,
Must be the season of the witch,
Must be the season of the witch.

When I go.

When I look out my window,
What do you think I see?
And when I look in my window,
So many different people to be,
It’s strange, sure it’s strange.
You’ve got to pick up every stitch,
You’ve got to pick up every stitch,
Two rabbits running in the ditch,
Oh no, must be the season of the witch,
Must be the season of the witch, yeah,
Must be the season of the witch.

Song meaning, a great website where comments can help you find meaning to the lyrics of every song! I placed a shortcut on the right of my blog, all you have to do is look for it!

Here are some comments to this beautiful tune:

This is a great song. I do not believe any of these comments are correct. Perhaps those who were at least young teenagers in the mid 1960’s would recognize the song as a comment on the social changes coming into the forefront at that time. The changes were a huge wave. Certain artists like Donovan were riding this wave and the press were clamoring all over them constantly asking silly questions about the “meaning” of their art.

The song is about observing changes. It has nothing to do with witchcraft, drugs or paranoia. I think the words in this song are more about rhyming and rhythm than anything specific. They are suggesting images that rhyme with witch – magical changes. Pick up every stitch is to carry in the general notion of paying attention. Rabbits in the ditch is the sense of common activity. Beatniks out to get rich is about the very common notion at that time regarding “selling out” to commercial interests. The other cat may refer to the notoriety Donovan had at that time from the press and other artists and possibly also refer to the wonderment others were having as they observed the changes. The mid 60’s was also a time period when many of the “younger generation” as it was called then were looking to out cool each other in conspicuous ways to an extreme that had not been done in previous generations. We take this practice for granted now, but in the 50’s one demonstrated individualism with subtle items as opposed to adopting a purple punk hair style. There was much social revolution awareness going on. That is what this song is about.

General Comment:

“You’ve got to pick up every stitch” implies as in witchcraft not to leave anything “personal” behind i.e. clothing, hair, fingernails, blood. This is because it is “The season of the witch” and witches cast spells. I suggest a little background research on Donovan.

What a wonderful tune! I dedicate it to all my friends from wordpress! You have sustain this blog, and myself by your priceless support and dedication! I realize this fact, and I appreciate it more than you’ll ever know!

Day after day, I must face a world of strangers
Where I don’t belong, I’m not that strong
It’s nice to know that there’s someone I can turn to
Who will always care, you’re always there

When there’s no gettin’ over that rainbow
When my smallest of dreams won’t come true
I can take all the madness the world has to give
But I won’t last a day without you
So many times when the city seems to be
Without a friendly face, a lonely place
It’s nice to know that you’ll be there if I need you
And you’ll always smile, it’s all worthwhile
When there’s no gettin’ over that rainbow
When my smallest of dreams won’t come true
I can take all the madness the world has to give
But I won’t last a day without you
Touch me and I end up singing
Trouble seems to up and disappear
You touch me with the love you’re bringing
I can’t really lose when you’re near
When you’re near, my love
If all my friends have forgotten half their promises they’re not unkind
Just hard to find
One look at you and I know
That I couldn’t learn to live without the rest
I’ve found the best
When there’s no gettin’ over that rainbow
When my smallest of dreams won’t come true
I can take all the madness the world has to give
But I won’t last a day without you
When there’s no gettin’ over that rainbow
When my smallest of dreams won’t come true
I can take all the madness the world has to give
But I won’t last a day without you
