Scientists Reveal the Indispensable Exercises That Can Help Us Live Longer.

Not everyone knows that health is wealth. There are many who simply ignore what it takes to remain healthy and live longer. The reason for good health isn’t only to ensure

you live longer, but to have a better quality of life as you age. You have just one life and by making it healthy, you live a fulfilling a happy one enjoying each and every cherished moment with your family and loved ones rather than having them visit you in a hospital several times a vear.

1) The key to good health.

Good health doesn’t mean being a fitness freak or a gym enthusiast who develops and obsession of going to the gym every single day. It’s simply eating healthy, avoiding unhealthy food, being physically active with some exercise

at least thrice a week and of course positive thinking. The key to long life is to ensure your body is in good condition and the more flexible you are is proof that your bones are still supple and not rigid or brittle. Take the following tests to see where you measure up and here is the exercise to live longer.

2) How to test your body’s age. Warm up by stationery or brisk walking

up and down a room. If you have a treadmill at home then ten minutes on that will help pump up your metabolism a bit.

Now perform a forward stretch by bending over and trying to touch your toes or the floor with your hands, How far do you go. Don’t bend your legs, and back too should be straight. Now make a mental mark of where your hand reached and stand up.

3) At 20-25 years, you should be able to touch the floor easily.

If you can touch the floor easily with your legs straiaht it means your muscles are still flexible as mentloned earlier, Inactivity and poor metabolism makes your bones rigid and muscles weak. Get back on track as soon as possible.

4) At 25-38 years, if this is how much you did.

If you can touch the floor with your fingertips with slightly bent knees, it means the exercise isn’t to discomforting. However, those who are physically active will touch their toes even at 38 years of age without bending knees. As mentioned earlier, inactivity and poor metabolism makes your bones rigid and muscles weak. Get back on track as soon as possible.

5) 38 to 50 years.

Your fingers touch only the upper feet but with knees considerably bent and muscles tensed. You feel like standing up immediately. This means at your age, your muscles aren’t strong at all with no flexibility in your body. Between 38 and fifty years healthy people should be able to touch toes with a slight bend in the knee. The exercise will not be discomforting even fthe activity 3 performed ten times.

6) If you are more than 50 years.

You just can’t touch your feet and even when trying to bend over makes your knees bend immediately. You experience a lot of discomfort in such a position. This means that rigidity has set into your body because of no exercise and activity. But!! All is not lost. You’ll be surprised when you gradually start exercising how your body may respond positively. Within a month of exercising you may find you can bend over with no discomfort.

If you keep at it, you may regain a considerable part of your flexibility and at least manage to ouch your feet with a slight bend of the knee.

7) How to improve your flexibility and overall health.

There is no need to get worried if you aren’t happy with your own results. If you want to regain your flexibility back and improve your health, start performing this exercise 30 times a day and after a month you will surprise yourself. However, you should not be suffering from any joint or bone ailments in which case consult with your doctor first.

8) Stretching works wonders for your body.

Such activity where your body is stretched increases circulation and oxygenates your muscles. With more oxygen to your muscles and organs, your health improves drastically. You also regain your flexibility to a great extent.

Static gymnastics is good for eliminating internal muscle spasms. It is a simple and easy exercise but it helps to relive the entire body of tension and oxygenates every part of the body. Several muscles are worked out and it can also massage your internal organs.

As many as 4 out of every 10 people will get sciatica, or irritation of the sciatic nerve, at some point in their life. This nerve comes from either side of the lower spine and travels through the pelvis and buttocks. Then the nerve passes along the back of each upper leg before it divides at the knee into branches that go to the feet.

Anything that puts pressure on or irritates this nerve can cause pain that shoots down the back of one buttock or thigh. The sensation of pain can vary widely. Sciatica may feel like a mild ache; a sharp, burning sensation; or extreme discomfort. Sciatica can also cause feelings of numbness, weakness, and tingling.

Pain may be made worse by prolonged sitting, standing up, coughing, sneezing, twisting, lifting, or straining. Treatment for sciatic pain ranges from hot and cold packs and medications to exercises and complementary and alternative remedies.

Medications for Relief of Pain From Sciatica

Several types of medications may be used for sciatic pain. Oral medications include:

Over-the-counter pain relievers such as acetaminophen, aspirin, or NSAIDs (such as ibuprofen [Advil, Motrin], ketoprofen, or naproxen [Aleve])
Prescription muscle relaxants to ease muscle spasms
Antidepressants for chronic low back pain
Prescription pain medications for more severe pain

Do not give aspirin to a child aged 18 years of age or younger because of the increased risk of Reye’s syndrome.

In some cases, a steroid medication is injected into the space around the spinal nerve. Research suggests these injections have a modest effect when irritation is caused by pressure from a herniated, or ruptured, disc.
Physical Therapy for Sciatica

Sciatica pain may make it difficult to be active. But bed rest is not recommended as a mainstay treatment. To manage new sciatica pain, you may find that certain positions and activities are more comfortable than others.

If symptoms are not severe but persist beyond a couple of weeks, your doctor may recommend physical therapy. The proper exercises may actually help reduce sciatic pain. They can also provide conditioning to help prevent the pain from coming back.

The exercises recommended will depend on what’s causing the sciatica. It’s important to work with a specialist who has experience working with people with sciatica. It’s also important to do the exercises exactly as directed.

To get the proper direction, you will most likely work with one of the following specialists:

Physical therapist
Physiatrist — a doctor who specializes in physical medicine

Complementary and Alternative Remedies for Sciatica Pain Relief

Some people find pain relief from complementary and alternative therapies such as biofeedback and acupuncture. Keep in mind, though, that these therapies have not been shown by scientific studies to help sciatica.

Biofeedback is a technique that helps make it possible to control bodily processes such as heart rate, blood pressure, and muscle tension. It works by using a machine that provides information about the process being addressed. Having that information displayed, the person is often able to find ways to achieve conscious control of these processes. Probably the most common use of biofeedback is to treat stress and stress-related conditions.

Acupuncture is a treatment that uses fine needles inserted at specific locations on the skin called acupuncture points. The points are located along meridians, or channels. The channels are thought to conduct qi, which is said to be the energy or vital force of the body. The theory behind using acupuncture is that pain is thought to result from imbalances or blockages of the flow of qi. Acupuncture is supposed to remove those blockages to restore the balance.

One theory is that stimulating these points produces an effect by stimulating the central nervous system. This, in turn, would trigger the release of chemicals that either alter the experience of pain or produce other changes that promote a sense of well-being.
Surgery for Sciatica

Only a very small percentage of people with sciatica will require surgery. If pain from sciatica persists for at least 6 weeks despite treatment, you may be referred to a specialist. At that point, surgery may be an option. The goal for surgery is to remedy the cause of the sciatica. For example, if a herniated disc is putting pressure on the nerve, then surgery to correct the problem may relieve sciatica pain.

If sciatica symptoms are severe or become progressively worse, then immediate referral to a specialist is necessary.

We take the Internet and its wealth of knowledge for granted. Virtually everything is readily accessible 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at the click of a button. That is — until it’s not. Websites can go belly up without a moment’s notice, their content gone forever.
It is important to archive content that appears on the Internet for various reasons. Saving websites is a way of preserving human culture, much in the same way we protect and curate books or works of art. Curiosity is a big driver — after all, kids today couldn’t imagine an old Geocities web page in their wildest dreams. Aside from general curiosity, saving websites can allow us to refer back to important information.

It is super convenient to reference info found on the Web. But what happens when that link just points to a 404 error message? In 2013 a Harvard study found that 49% of the websitesreferenced in Supreme Court decisions in the US were now dead ends. How can we prevent vital information like this from disappearing into the virtual ether?

Luckily, the folks at The Internet Archive have developed a tool that can index and archive websites. They call it the Wayback Machine, and it has been archiving websites since 2001. To date, the Wayback Machine has saved over 304 billion web pages.
There are a number of reasons one would want to archive a website. Luckily, The Wayback Machine makes it super easy. Here are the ways in which you can use The Wayback Machine for all your webpage archiving needs.

Which Sites Are Cataloged?

Many popular websites are automatically archived by the Wayback Machine. However, you can use the Wayback Machine to manually archive virtually any page. Websites are often abandoned or changed completely, so the Wayback machine acts as a way to preserve the culture of the Internet by keeping a digital “hard copy” of a website. Be aware that text and images are left intact; however, some outbound links and embedded items (e.g. videos) are not.
It is important to note that The Wayback Machine only scans and archives public sites. This means that password protected sites or ones located on private servers cannot be archived. In addition, if a website prohibits search engines from including it in search results, Wayback Machine will not be able to archive it.

How to Use the Wayback Machine

There are two methods you can use to start archiving websites. Fortunately, both of them are super-easy and don’t require any special know-how. Start by placing your cursor in front of the URL in your browser’s address bar. Type web.archive.org/save/ and hit Enter. A dialog box should appear on your screen informing you that the Wayback Machine is saving the page.

The second way to archive a webpage is to use the Wayback Machine archive website. First, navigate to a webpage you want to save and copy the URL. With that done, head to the Wayback Machine archive website. On the right side of this page you will see a header that reads “Save Page Now.” Paste the URL of the webpage you want to save into the text box and click the “Save Page” button.
Regardless of which method you use, the result is the same. Be aware that saving the page can take a while, so be patient and let it do its thing.

Wayback Machine Browser Extension

The Wayback Machine also has an official browser extension for Google Chrome. Using it to archive web pages is super easy. Simply navigate to a page you want to archive, click on the Wayback Machine icon in your toolbar and click “Save Page Now.”

In addition to making it even easier to save pages, the browser extension has another nifty trick up ts sleeve. Have you ever clicked on a link only to be confronted by a vague 404 error message? Whether it is a valuable source for your research paper or a really good recipe, it can be incredibly frustrating. With the Wayback Machine extension installed, that frustration could turn into a sigh of relief. When your browser runs into a dead end, the extension will search the archive to see if there is a saved copy on the Wayback Machine. If there is, it will ask you if you would like to visit that page.
If you don’t use Chrome, don’t fret. There is a Wayback Machine extension available for Firefox; however, it is still a work in progress. Additionally, there are plans to develop an extension for Safari users as well.

Archive-It

Do you or your organization have a website that needs to be indexed and archived frequently? If so, manually archiving each individual web page using the methods above can be incredibly tedious and costly. Fortunately, the Internet Archive provides a service called Archive-Itthat can automate the archiving process for you.

This service is not free; however, it can be ideal for those who want to back up their content with a “set it and forget it” mentality. Just stipulate which pages you would like to save and how often. This paid subscription is perfect for those who wish to save their web content on a regular basis.
