The Ogdoad of Egyptian mythology was a group of eight deities worshipped in ancient Hermopolis. They were arranged in four female-male pairs, with each pair representing the female and male aspects of one of four basic concepts. Together, the concepts were thought to have been the basis for the creation of the world.
