VITAMIN C POSSIBLE CANCER FIGHTER

Vitamin C Possible Cancer Fighter

In the 1970s, Nobel Prize – winning chemist Linus Pauling reported success treating cancer with intravenous vitamin C. However, when clinical trials of oral vitamin C failed to yield results, the medical establishment largely abandoned this line of research. Now, decades later, researchers are finding that injected vitamin C can kill cancer cells without harming healthy cells and that, when used in combination with chemotherapy, it can slow tumor growth and curb chemotherapy side effects. More… Discuss

Linus Carl Pauling (February 28, 1901 – August 19, 1994)[1] was an American chemist, biochemist, peace activist, author and educator. He was one of the most influential chemists in history and ranks among the most important scientists of the 20th century.[2][3] Pauling was among the first scientists to work in the fields of quantum chemistry and molecular biology.

Pauling is one of only four individuals to have won more than one Nobel Prize.[4] He is one of only two people awarded Nobel Prizes in different fields (the Chemistry and Peace prizes), the other being Marie Curie (the Chemistry and Physics prizes), and the only person awarded two unshared prizes…

Vitamin C or L-ascorbic acid or L-ascorbate is an essential nutrient for humans and certain other animal species. In living organisms ascorbate acts as an antioxidant by protecting the body against oxidative stress.[1] It is also a cofactor in at least eight enzymatic reactions including several collagen synthesis reactions that cause the most severe symptoms of scurvy when they are dysfunctional.[2] In animals these reactions are especially important in wound-healing and in preventing bleeding from capillaries. (Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vitamin_C)
