Researchers say a third of the world’s Alzheimer’s cases are preventable. They found that diabetes, mid-life hypertension, mid-life obesity, physical inactivity, depression, smoking, and poor education are all risk factors in the development of Alzheimer’s that can potentially be addressed to reduce risk. However, it appears that not all seated activities are created equal. Adults who watch three or more hours of TV a day are twice as likely to suffer a premature death as those who watch an hour or less, yet those who spend similar amounts of time behind the wheel or using a computer are not nearly as predisposed to an early death.
