Oh yes, I remeber her voice from back into the sixties, when she and many others singers visited Bucharest for the international singers competition. Life tried to steal her golden voice memory, almost succeded, but in the end I still remember her angelic “Fadista” voice: I may not have remembered her name, but never did I forget that voice.
She too resides, I’m sure, in The Tower Of Song, that Leonard Cohen so generously aforded the world, somewhere, singing “Ave Maria Fadista”. Her nation’s aclaimed singer (Portugal) like Edith Piaf of France, or Maria Tanase of Romania, they all claimed the right to bear songs, a First and Fundamental Right of the citizen of the world: THE RIGHT TO CARRY A SONG, THE RIGHT TO SING, the right to bring a song to a party!
Bear songs, not cannons! It suits the world better.
