Regina Spektor
The Sword & The Pen lyrics

Songwriters: Spektor, Regina
Don’t let me get out of this kiss
Don’t let me say what I say
The things that scare us today
What if they happen someday
Don’t let me out of your arms
For nowWhat if the sword kills the pen
What if the god kills the man
And if he does it with love
Well then it’s death from above
And death from above is still a death

I don’t want to live without you
I don’t want to live without you
I don’t want to live
I don’t want to live
Without you

For those who still can recall
The desperate colors of fall
The sweet caresses of May
Only in poems remain
No one recites them these days
For the shame

So what if nothing is safe
So what if no one is saved
No matter how sweet
No matter how brave
What if each to his own lonely grave

I don’t want to live without you
I don’t want to live without you
I don’t want to live
I don’t want to live
Without you

Missy Higgins – Where I Stood

Songwriters: MELISSA MORRISON HIGGINS

I don’t know what I’ve done
Or if I like what I’ve begun
But something told me to run
And honey you know me it’s all or none

There were sounds in my head
A little voice is whispering
That I should go and this should end
Oh and I found my self listening

‘Cause I don’t know who I am, who I am without you
All I know is that I should
And I don’t know if I could stand another hand upon you
All I know is that I should

‘Cause she will love you more then I could
She who dares to stand where I stood

See I thought love was black and white
That it was wrong or it was right

But you ain’t leaving without a fight
And I think I am just as torn inside
[ Lyrics from: http://www.lyricsmode.com/lyrics/m/missy_higgins/where_i_stood.html ]
‘Cause I don’t know who I am, who I am without you
All I know is that I should
And I don’t know if I could stand another hand upon you
All I know is that I should

‘Cause she will love you more then I could
She who dares to stand where I stood

And I won’t be far from where you are if ever you should call
You meant more to me then any one I’ve ever loved at all
But you taught me how to trust myself
And so I say to you, this is what I have to do.

‘Cause I don’t know who I am, who I am without you
All I know is that I should
And I don’t know if I could stand another hand upon you
All I know is that I should
‘Cause she will love you more then I could
She who dares to stand where I stood
She who dares to stand where I stood.

A Horse With No Name

On the first part of the journey,
I was looking at all the life.
There were plants and birds. and rocks and things,
There was sand and hills and rings.
The first thing I met, was a fly with a buzz,
And the sky, with no clouds.
The heat was hot, and the ground was dry,
But the air was full of sound.

I’ve been through the desert on a horse with no name,
It felt good to be out of the rain.
In the desert you can remember your name,
‘Cause there ain’t no one for to give you no pain.
La, la, la la la la, la la la, la, la
La, la, la la la la, la la la, la, la

After two days, in the desert sun,
My skin began to turn red.
After three days, in the desert fun,
I was looking at a river bed.
And the story it told, of a river that flowed,
Made me sad to think it was dead.

You see I’ve been through the desert on a horse with no name,
It felt good to be out of the rain.
In the desert you can remember your name,
‘Cause there ain’t no one for to give you no pain.
La la, la, la la la la, la la la, la, la
La la, la, la la la la, la la la, la, la

After nine days, I let the horse run free,
‘Cause the desert had turned to sea.
There were plants and birds, and rocks and things,
There was sand and hills and rings.
The ocean is a desert, with it’s life underground,
And a perfect disguise above.
Under the cities lies, a heart made of ground,
But the humans will give no love.

La la, la, la la la la, la la la, la, la
La la, la, la la la la, la la la, la, la
La, la, la la la la, la la la, la, la
La la, la, la la la la, la la la, la, la
La, la, la la la la, la la la, la, la
La la, la, la la la la, la la la, la, la
