SOLD OUT! UNFORTUNATELY THIS VIDEO HAS BEEN DESIGNATED PRIVATE STATUS ON/BY YOUTUBE, RENDERING THE VIDEO UNWATCHABLE: WAY TO GO!
Sayaka Shoji is the first Japanese and youngest winner at the Paganini Competition in Genoa in 1999.
She was born into an artistic family and spent her childhood in Siena, Italy. She studied at Hochschule für Musik Köln under Zakhar Bron and graduated in 2004. Her other teachers have included Sashko Gawrillow, Uto Ughi and Shlomo Mintz.
Zubin Mehta has been her strong supporter. When Shoji auditioned for him in 2000, he immediately changed his schedule in order to make her first recording with the Israel Philharmonic possible in the following month, then invited her to perform with Bavarian State Opera and Los Angeles Philharmonic. A yes – laws and lawyers. ::sigh: in cases like this one it is SO short-sighted, since viewing this video is likely to increase sales, not the other way around, and the concert is, as you say, already sold out. I could NEVER make it as a lawyer – financially or spiritually, and wonder what drives those who are attracted to this stuck-in-the-box “chess-game” field.
Still, it was wonderful to read your text – and listen to the others. THANKS.

mgh

The actions, decisions (and tweets!) of Corporate Capitalists indicate that they are a heartless tribe — most of them selfish and shallow one-note sambas. Not that these Midas worshipers care what the rest of us think, I’m sure, barely noticing as long as the metrics indicate that the money will continue to pour in.
Not ALL, of course, but a large enough number to characterize the category.

I grew up playing the violin (and piano, and singing). Tchaikovsky has always been my favorite classical composer. Interestingly, many of my favorite rock/pop stars have a classical music background, like Paul McCartney and Billy Joel, just to name two.

Or Regina Spektor, You’re right: there are so many ways to express one feelings, the way one desires. Many find the break from the castigating means of training glowing with inspiration and self realisation! Thanks for the thought, and check out some on Regina’s compositions (you can use the search engine on my website, or on the you tube!)
