Snail Teeth May Be Stronger than Spider Silk

Spider silk has long been hailed as the strongest known natural material, but UK scientists have discovered that the teeth of limpets—snail-like sea creatures found in the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans—may be even stronger. The research team examined limpet teeth down to the atom and found a hard mineral called goethite, the strength of which helps limpets cling to rocks and remove algae.
