Blessed Pope John Paul II: Beatification Mass – May 1, 2011

John Paul II has been acclaimed as one of the most influential leaders of the 20th century.[4] It is widely held that he was instrumental in ending communism in his native Poland and eventually all of Europe.[3][4][5][6][7][8][9] Conversely, he denounced the excesses of capitalism.[10][11] John Paul II is widely said to have significantly improved the Catholic Church‘s relations with Judaism,[3][9][12] Islam,[13][14] the Eastern Orthodox Church,[3] and the Anglican Communion.[3][15] Though criticised by progressives[3][9][16] for upholding the Church’s teachings against artificial contraception and the ordination of women, he was also criticized by traditionalists for his support of the Church’s Second Vatican Council and its reform of the Liturgy as well as his ecumenical efforts.[3][17][18] Since his death, he has been criticized for failing to act on accusations of sexual child abuse by priests, including those against founder of Legion of Christ Marcial Maciel.[19]

Reuters: Code Of Journalism

One thing that is more important than journalism as production, is that the product, the news, reaches in the most remote corners of the planet, by all means, in the shortest amount of time. Journalism without an audience is lifeless, like a see without any water ripples and tides: Frozen!
The reader is the life, is the ripples and the tides and bring the sea to life.

Bee Gees: First Of May

First Of May (Bee Gees)
When I was small, and Christmas trees were tall,

we used to love while others used to play.
Don’t ask me why, but time has passed us by,
some one else moved in from far away.

Now we are tall, and Christmas trees are small,

and you don’t ask the time of day.
But you and I, our love will never die,
but guess we’ll cry come first of May.

The apple tree that grew for you and me,
I watched the apples falling one by one.
And I recall the moment of them all,
the day I kissed your cheek and you were gone.

When I was small, and Christmas trees were tall,
do do do do do do do do do…
Don’t ask me why, but time has passed us by,
some one else moved in from far away.

This Day In History: The Illuminati (1776)

Founding of the Illuminati (1776)

The Illuminati were members of a rationalistic society founded in Germany by Adam Weishaupt. Having close affinities with the Freemasons and seemingly organized on a Masonic plan, the group was briefly very popular among German rationalists but had limited influence. The Roman Catholic Church, which Weishaupt left in his youth and rejoined before his death, condemned the Illuminati. In 1785, the Bavarian government dissolved the organization. What conspiracy theories involve the Illuminati? More… Discuss
