Voices of the Woods
Throughout history, the forest has been regarded as a symbol of spirituality and the cycle of life. It has inspired thought, and fired the imagination. The great composers gave the forest world a voice through the language of music. In their works, many Voices of the Woods are heard and preserved for posterity. Waldszenen, Op. 82 (Forest Scenes)

The Romantic poetry of the nineteenth century was rich with the imagery and symbolism of the forest. It was often expressed through music, such as in the beautiful “Waldszenen,” or “Forest Scenes,” inspired by some of Schumann’s favorite poems. This collection of nine musical vignettes evokes the forest as a place of mystery and the unknown, as well as a sanctuary of safety and peace. Composed in 1848-1849, toward the end of a life cut short, it is documented that Schumann “cherished” these pieces. Hal Freedman http://cdbaby.com/cd/halfreedman3

Luxembourg spying scandal

🙂

Dear Kitty. Some blog

This video is called EU talks tough on US spy allegations.

NOS TV in the Netherlands reports that, for decades, the Luxembourg secret service has been spying on politicians, including Prime Minister Juncker, officially the boss of the secret police; and on many other people in Luxembourg.

An inquiry by the Luxembourg parliament has established this.

St. Louis Judge Refuses To Watch Video Showing Officer Sucker Punching Teenager and Then Clears Him . . . Police Union Calls For His Rehiring

Above their own laws: How is it possible? But then, if you don’t punch someone when is down…when are you going to? Animals don’t know any better!

JONATHAN TURLEY

burkeIt is often difficult to get actual charges against a police officer, but former St. Louis Officer Rory Bruce, 35, was an exception. After all, it was a police video that clearly showed him verbally abusing a teenager and then sucker punching him while handcuffed. One would think it would be an easy conviction, even without the testimony of the 16-year-old boy. That is if the judge watched the video. She did not. Judge Teresa Counts Burke showed no reason to actually watch the video before ruling and now the police union is demanding that the department rehire Bruce.

Sarcastic or Terroristic? Texas Teen Held Almost Five Months For Single Facebook Comment

JONATHAN TURLEY

xjustin-carter-photo.jpg.pagespeed.ic.5DwZFivrYVWe have previously discussed the often unhinged reaction to jokes and postings referring to violence by authorities. It is certainly understandable and commendable to take such postings seriously, but even when all available evidence points to a juvenile exchange or bad joke, the cases seems to go into autopilot with prosecutors and police insisting on absurd charges. That appears to be the case of Texas teenager Justin Carter who has been held for over four months due to a single sarcastic posting on Facebook for “terroristic threats.” This case shows, once again, prosecutors and police showing no judgment or logic in the handling of such cases.

Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy – Violin Concerto in E minor, op. 64 ( one of the most romantic violin concertos ever! Once you hear the theme…it will stay with you forever!)

Felix Froschhammer, violin

Alexander Mayer, conductor
Ensemble Symphonique Neuchâtel

11.11.2012, Temple du Bas, Neuchâtel

The concerto consists of three movements with the following tempo markings:

  1. Allegro molto appassionato (E minor)
  2. Andante (C major)
  3. Allegretto non troppo – Allegro molto vivace (E major)

The concerto opens with an almost immediate entry of the solo violin, instead of an orchestral tutti, with the very tune in E minor that gave Mendelssohn no peace.[12] Following a bravura of rapidly descending notes, the opening theme is then restated by the orchestra. Continue reading
