From New Relic: How to speed Up WordPress in 7 Easy Steps
By: Leigh Shevchik | Posted in: Performance Tech Tips, PHP, Top Post, Mar. 6th, 2013
Last month, we discussed the importance of implementing a CDN to speed up your site content. Sticking with this theme, let’s take a closer look at how you can improve the performance of your WordPress blog or website.
There are nearly 59 million active WordPress blogs, yielding just over 29 million new posts every month. That’s an unbelievable amount of content. How fast that content loads can be a huge driver in your blog’s success. In fact, a 2011 KISSmetrics study showed that you should expect to see about a 25% abandonment rate after a four second page load delay.

Jackson and the Bank of the United States
“The proverb, ‘What you don’t know can’t hurt you”, originated in 1576 as, ‘So long as I know it not, it hurteth mee not.’ But the opposite is true. Unpleasant hidden truths do the most harm. The best way to fight corruption is to expose it. Think of the World Bank as ENRON.” … Karen Hudes

Military Suicides Hit Epidemic Levels
March 27, 2013 AFP
• Unimaginable stress, irrepressible memories, psychoactive prescription drugs make lethal combination
By Pat Shannan
With what must be one of the strangest statistics in the history of wartime, the Pentagon has released the fact that more soldiers are dying overseas by committing suicide than from combat wounds —about one a day. July 2012 was the worst on record, a month that saw 38 soldiers take their own lives and with 349 recorded for the year. These figures have doubled in the past decade.
More alarming yet is the report that America’s returning vets are committing suicide at the unprecedented rate of more than 20 each day—“one every 65 minutes,” reportedDaily News of New York City—but there is no official answer as to why this happening.
Is it the post-traumatic stress from repeated tours in war zones or Big Pharma’s…

Leonard Cohen: The Traitor with Martha Wainwright (featured in the special features of the DVD “I’m Your Man”)
The traitor, by Leonard Cohen
Now the Swan it floated on the English river
Ah the Rose of High Romance it opened wide
A sun tanned woman yearned me through the summer
and the judges watched us from the other side
I told my mother “Mother I must leave you
preserve my room but do not shed a tear
Should rumour of a shabby ending reach you
it was half my fault and half the atmosphere”
But the Rose I sickened with a scarlet fever
and the Swan I tempted with a sense of shame
She said at last I was her finest lover
and if she withered I would be to blame
The judges said you missed it by a fraction
rise up and brace your troops for the attack
Ah the dreamers ride against the men of action
Oh see the men of action falling back
But I lingered on her thighs a fatal moment
I kissed her lips as though I thirsted still
My falsity had stung me like a hornet
The poison sank and it paralysed my will
I could not move to warn all the younger soldiers
that they had been deserted from above
So on battlefields from here to Barcelona
I’m listed with the enemies of love
And long ago she said “I must be leaving,
Ah but keep my body here to lie upon
You can move it up and down and when I’m sleeping
Run some wire through that Rose and wind the Swan”
So daily I renew my idle duty
I touch her here and there — I know my place
I kiss her open mouth and I praise her beauty
and people call me traitor to my face
Leonard Cohen: “It was called “The traitor”. It was about the feeling that we have of betraying some mission that we were mandated to fulfill, and being unable to fulfill it, and then coming to understand that the real mandate was not to fulfill it, and that the deeper courage was to stand guiltless in the predicament in which you found yourself”.

Rolling Stones – Beast of Burden (FLAC)
I’ll never be your beast of burden
My back is broad but it’s a hurting
All I want is for you to make love to me
I’ll never be your beast of burden
I’ve walked for miles my feet are hurting
All I want is for you to make love to me
Am I hard enough
Am I rough enough
Am I rich enough
I’m not too blind to see
I’ll never be your beast of burden
So let’s go home and draw the curtains
Music on the radio
Come on baby make sweet love to me
Am I hard enough
Am I rough enough
Am I rich enough
I’m not too blind to see
Oh little sister
Pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty, girl
You’re a pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty girl
Pretty, pretty
Such a pretty, pretty, pretty girl
Come on baby please, please, please
I’ll tell ya
You can put me out
On the street
Put me out
With no shoes on my feet
But, put me out, put me out
Put me out of misery
Yeah, all your sickness
I can suck it up
Throw it all at me
I can shrug it off
There’s one thing baby
That I don’t understand
You keep on telling me
I ain’t your kind of man
Ain’t I rough enough, ooh baby
Ain’t I tough enough
Ain’t I rich enough, in love enough
Ooh! Ooh! Please
I’ll never be your beast of burden
I’ll never be your beast of burden
Never, never, never, never, never, never, never be
I don’t need no beast of burden
I need no fussing
I need no nursing
Never, never, never, never, never, never, never be

I Dreamed I Saw St. Augustine -Bob Dylan
I dreamed I saw St. Augustine
Alive as you or me
Tearing through these quarters
In the utmost misery
With a blanket underneath his arm
And a coat of solid gold
Searching for the very souls
Whom already have been sold
“Arise, arise,” he cried so loud
In a voice without restraint
“Come out, ye gifted kings and queens
And hear my sad complaint
No martyr is among ye now
Whom you can call your own
So go on your way accordingly
But know you’re not alone”
I dreamed I saw St. Augustine
Alive with fiery breath
And I dreamed I was amongst the ones
That put him out to death
Oh, I awoke in anger
So alone and terrified
I put my fingers against the glass
And bowed my head and cried
Send “I Dreamed I Saw St. Augustine” Ringtone to Cell
Update: Monday’s ride, in which I catch the county breaking the law

Different faces but the same old story is being replayed in a small part of the Euro-zone, Cyprus, and that story is one of the Cypriot banking crime syndicate gambling with depositor funds on the debt markets, this time it’s Greek bonds, yes, these master-eds of the universe used depositor funds to pile into soon to go bankrupt Greece because of the high yields they offered so that the bankster’s could bank bonuses on the basis of fictitious profits as illustrated by the fact that they have dumped an infinitely pile of losses (Greek Bond’s ) onto Cypriot tax payers, far beyond anything that any other Euro-zone member has had to face to date.

Counterintuition – Fierce Dogs Need Warning Label!
BEWARE Of DOG…Not to step on…
SERENDIPITY - SEEKING INTELLIGENT LIFE ON EARTH
These pictures tell the tale. Last year, the FedEx guy was so terrified by our dogs he broke our fence vaulting it to get away from these fierce canines. He was apparently also afraid of white-haired women because when I went out to talk to him, he ran away from me, too. I’m sure that Bonnie and Nan were delighted. They have been trying to terrify someone their whole lives and finally succeeding must have been deeply satisfying. Better than biscuits.
So now, we have a sign because a strapping six-foot delivery guy was scared to death by our two terriers. The UPS guy simply brings biscuits. I realized against all logic and reason, we need to warn people that we have dangerous, life-threatening beasts in our yard. On the up side, maybe they will think twice before opening the gate.

Fukushima cancer time bomb in Japan?
“Atoms for peace”: Another 666 lie! Another project we shouldn’t had touched! Playing God is only that: A dangerous game in which everybody looses!
This video from Japan is called Fukushima mothers worried about cancer risk.
From the Daily Express in Britain:
Two years after the Fukushima nuclear disaster is Japan facing a cancer time bomb?
Mar 27
In the shadow of the Fukushima nuclear power station life appears to have returned to normal. A farmer tends his cows and goes about his daily routine as dogs play round his feet. Signs of spring are everywhere and birds sing. But take a closer look and it’s all a sham.
The rice fields are overgrown with weeds as tall as a man. The rest of this village, near the scene of the world’s worst nuclear disaster since Chernobyl, is deserted. Washing still hanging on lines hints at the panic which engulfed this region of Japan.
The farmer is among a handful of people who defied an order by the authorities to evacuate. Beef from…

Serge Gainsbourg & Jane Birkin – “Je t’aime moi non plus” – 1969 Censure was always wrong: Art shouldn’t be censured
Dalla Francia in quel 1969 arrivò la bomba “Je t’aime moi non plus“, una canzone che scandalizzò larga parte dei benpensanti del nostro paese, che affrettarono a censurarla e a far sequestrare il disco.
Compared to what’s happening now….this is a innocent song, but still art!
A message from the past re-actualized – same message: The Eagles’s “Hotel California”
A message from the past re-actualized – same message: The Eagles Hotel California
“Hotel California” is the title song from the Eagles‘ album of the same name and was released as a single in February 1977. It is one of the best-known songs of the album-oriented rock era. Writing credits for the song are shared by Don Felder, Don Henleyand Glenn Frey. The Eagles’ original recording of the song features Henley singing the lead vocals and concludes with an extended section of electric guitar interplay between Felder and Joe Walsh. The song has been given several interpretations by fans and critics alike, but the Eagles have described it as their “interpretation of the high life in Los Angeles“.
|
Interpretation
The lyrics describe the title establishment as a luxury resort where “you can check out anytime you like, but you can never leave.” On the surface, it tells the tale of a weary traveler who becomes trapped in a nightmarish luxury hotel that at first appears inviting and tempting. The song is an allegory about hedonism, self-destruction, and greed in the music industry of the late 1970s.[9] Don Henley called it “our interpretation of the high life in Los Angeles“[10] and later reiterated “it’s basically a song about the dark underbelly of the American dream and about excess in America, which is something we knew a lot about.”[11] In 2008, Don Felder described the origins of the lyrics:
“Don Henley and Glenn wrote most of the words. All of us kind of drove into L.A. at night. Nobody was from California, and if you drive into L.A. at night… you can just see this glow on the horizon of lights, and the images that start running through your head of Hollywood and all the dreams that you have, and so it was kind of about that… what we started writing the song about. Coming into L.A…. and from that ‘Life in the Fast Lane’ came out of it, and ‘Wasted Time’ and a bunch of other songs.”[12]
The abstract nature of the lyrics has led listeners to their own interpretations over the years. In the 1980s, some Christian evangelists alleged that “Hotel California” referred to a San Francisco hotel purchased by Anton LaVey and converted into the Church of Satan.[13][14] Other rumors suggested that the Hotel California was the Camarillo State Mental Hospital.[15]
The term “colitas” in the first stanza of the song is a Spanish term for “little tails” and in Mexican slang it is a reference to the buds of the cannabis plant.[16]
In a 2009 interview, Plain Dealer music critic John Soeder asked Don Henley this about the lyrics:
“On “Hotel California,” you sing: “So I called up the captain / ‘Please bring me my wine’ / He said, ‘We haven’t had that spirit here since 1969.'” I realize I’m probably not the first to bring this to your attention, but wine isn’t a spirit. Wine is fermented; spirits are distilled. Do you regret that lyric?”
Henley responded,
“Thanks for the tutorial and, no, you’re not the first to bring this to my attention—and you’re not the first to completely misinterpret the lyric and miss the metaphor. Believe me, I’ve consumed enough alcoholic beverages in my time to know how they are made and what the proper nomenclature is. But that line in the song has little or nothing to do with alcoholic beverages. It’s a sociopolitical statement. My only regret would be having to explain it in detail to you, which would defeat the purpose of using literary devices in songwriting and lower the discussion to some silly and irrelevant argument about chemical processes.”[17]
According to Glenn Frey‘s liner notes for The Very Best Of, the use of the word “steely” in the lyric (referring to knives) was a playful nod to band Steely Dan, who had included the lyric “Turn up the Eagles, the neighbors are listening” in their song “Everything You Did“.

Şi pe-o vale verde oştile dormea;
Astfel astă dată viaţa lor cura;
Cugetele triste nu-i mai turbura;
Luna varsă raze dulci şi argintoase;
Austrul le suflă coamele pletoase;
Aripile taie-i, că ar vrea să moară!
Astfel e românul şi român sunt eu
Şi sub jugul barbar nu plec capul meu.”
